The current 26 week annualized growth rate in Federal Reserve Total Assets is now at +7.30%, declining from last week’s +7.99%.
Here are the raw numbers for the last 10 weeks:
As you can see from the graph below, growth really started to slow in late Feb 2022 and leveled off. And all of this is before the Fed started its effort to reduce its balance sheet. We don’t see that reduction happening yet, as the level has remained fairly steady, but we don’t see the growth that would imply an expansion either.
The bear market trend continues.
M2 comes out Tuesday for May. We shouldn’t see any surprises in that either.
