Parody or Covid precaution: Planet Zoolander

without knowledge of a speaker’s priors, any sufficiently risk averse Covid practice is indistinguishable from parody.

If you think I am going to run out of ideas for this series, let’s just say I wouldn’t put money on it. Covid hysteria is the gift that keeps on giving when it comes to, ahem, less than scientific safety ideas.

So today I gave you this headline

There is a lot to unpack here so let’s start with

  • Do we think the baboons are going to give us covid? Or we are going to give it to them? What is actually the risk here?

  • Has anyone studied asymptomatic spread among the lemurs? I don’t trust them.

  • Can’t we just put them all in masks? I hear that is even more effective.

  • Wait we are vaccinating zoo animals???

  • Do the zoo animals in Omaha have a high prevalance of antibodies?

  • Do the guinea pigs in the zoo enjoy or resent the irony?

  • Wait… are we concerned about vaccine safety for the animals? But not for our kids?

  • Again, we are vaccinating zoo animals???

This must be the new guy in charge of Covid safety
